2017 Game #8 of the Big East Quest - DePaul

For those that don't know us well, Erik and Tim undertook a quest when Erik enrolled at Marquette University to attend an away Marquette basketball game at every school in the Big East. Our goal was to do that before Erik graduated but more importantly, we wanted to do this without impacting Erik's attendance (and grades)! This past weekend (Saturday, February 4, 2017), we knocked off DePaul from our list which was game #8. We had put it off just because it was the easiest of all the Big East games for us to get to and we could have easily done an evening trip from Milwaukee to Chicago, if necessary.

What can we tell you about this venue/game? I think we were both surprised by the lack of student and fan support for DePaul. I actually feel bad for the players and fans. The loudest cheer we heard was "We Are Marquette!". At every other venue we have been to, we've been surrounded by loud and proud fans from the home school which we thoroughly enjoy; everyone has been great and we have great memories. At DePaul, we were literally surrounded by Marquette fans. There may actually have been more Marquette yellow in the stands than the home team color. Its sad to say but this was our least enjoyable of the venues!

Two more to go! Thankfully Erik has one year of graduate school so if you are anyone at Marquette working on the BigEast schedule next year, please….Villanova and Providence over winter break only days apart! Please!!!!!
