2007 Wyalusing State Park - WI

Gasoline prices kepts us slightly closer to home this year! We made two little 'mini-vacations' back-to-back.

Root River (Minnesota)

We spent nearly a week camping at ?? in Minnesota. It was very relaxing with a lot of miniature golf thrown in for good measures. We did go bicycling along the Root River Bike Trail. Minnesota has a beautiful area to bike which they should be proud of. An old railroad bed which cuts through bluffs in southeastern Minnesota is a very beautiful area to bike which led us through some very friendly small towns (and great ice cream!). The Root River State Trail System is about 60 miles of paved bike trail. We biked several segments through towns like Lanesboro, Preston and Peterson. Check out the Trail at http://www.lanesboro.com/root-river-state-trail.html.

We also traveled to northern Iowa to Kyak on the Iowa River. While the water level was quite low, we did have a very nice 3 hour trip through beautiful bluffs and even saw eagles soar directly overhead. Check out http://www.roguepaddler.com/upperia.htm

Wyalusing State Park (Wisconsin)

I'll need to write a bit about this beautiful Wisconsin State Park. For now..check out http://www.dnr.state.wi.us/org/land/parks/specific/wyalusing/
