Game #9 - Marquette vs Providence - Boston Visit

Erik and Tim continued the Marquette/Big East tour and hit the second-to-last school…Providence in Providence, Rhode Island. We flew into/out of Boston and used it as a chance to see a few sights around Boston.

We flew into Logan airport late Thursday night and started out tour early Friday morning by catching the train/subway into the city.

Faneuil Hall

Our first stop was Faneuil Hall which was rated number 4 in America's 25 Most Visited Tourist Sites by Forbes Traveler.

Old North Church – “One if by Land, Two if by Sea”

Second stop was the Old North Church which was where the signal for Paul Revere's midnight ride, of April 18, 1775, was given.

The sites we visited were along the Boston Freedom Trail . Along the trail we stopped into a little Italian bakery called Bricco Paneteria which is down a small alley called Bricco Place. Even if you don’t stop in the bakery (which you should), you should check out the alley and location of this place. Thankfully someone provided us with detailed instructions! 😊

Massachusetts Institute of Technology

The son of one of Tim’s high school friends is working on his PhD at MIT and we were lucky enough to have him give us a tour of the school which included several of the research labs deep in the bowels of the school. That was really cool.

James then joined us for a ‘bucket list’ item for all of us. There is a bar across the street from the grave of Samuel Adams which allows you to have a Sam Adams with Sam Adams! Is that cool or what?

At the end of the evening, James had to head north back to MIT and we had to head south; both took the subway.

Marquette versus Providence

Saturday morning we drove down to the Dunkin Donuts Center in downtown Providence for the game. We secured awesome second-row seats for a game that Marquette thoroughly dominated.

On the drive back to Boston, we stopped in to see Gillette Stadium – the home of the New England Patriots. I’d show a picture but…who cares?! 😊 While Erik and Tim were in the Pro Shop at the stadium, we heard the news of Robert Kraft’s arrest for buying a prostitute. Is that really our claim to fame?
